Riga Angus is a family business owned and operated by Ian and Vera Finger of Mansfield, Victoria. Presentation of the award took place at a Beef Week Celebratory Dinner held at Sam Miranda Winery in the King Valley.

Reserve Champion of the RASV Heifer Challenge was Yavenvale Herefords presented by James and Nicki Pearce of Adelong, New South Wales.

Ian and Vera Finger, whose champion pen included progeny from Te Mania Africa, BTMA217 and Sitz New Design 458N, were thrilled with the result. “We are really delighted with the 10 heifers that represented our next group of breeding females,” Ms Finger said. “We tend to look for functional cattle, as well as phenotype and EBVs. Functionality really is the key to productivity in our herd.”
“The RASV Heifer Challenge is a great opportunity to get some recognition for what we are aiming to achieve,” said Ms Finger.

RASV CEO Mr Mark O’Sullivan congratulated Riga Angus on their success. “On behalf of the RASV, I congratulate Riga Angus being named the 2013 RASV Heifer Challenge Champion, and acknowledge the quality of heifers put forward for judging by all participants.”

Stud Beef Victoria congratulates the RASV and the Stock & Land Beef Week Committee for facilitating an outstanding array of field days across south-eastern Australia, and to all participants for the most professional and impressive presentation of stock.

We look forward to your participation in next year's RASV Heifer Challenge 2024.
